The Sri Lanka-Germany Forum (SLG) is an organization that was created to facilitate the entry of German investors in order to uplift the organic and natural products market in Sri Lanka, while also enabling Sri Lankan manufacturers to export the high-quality products made locally to a discerning German clientele.
The SLG’s members offer a diverse portfolio of products, including superfood products such as Jackfruit, Moringa and Bees’ Honey, all organically made. Organic vegetables, coconut and coconut products, natural tea additives (such as hibiscus and dried fruit) traditional rice varieties are also a special highlight.
The SLG currently has a membership of 20 Sri Lankan organic, natural and sustainable goods SMEs, who are connected to over 8,000 farmer communities.
Global Spice Road Symposium 10-13th July 2019 Colombo - Sri Lanka
The Global Spice Road Symposium is scheduled to take place in August 28-30th 2019, in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The symposium is designed to bring together key stakeholders and revive the spice trade that has been displaced over time. This event, the brainchild of Chelcey Consulting Limited with SLG as the exclusive partner for Germany is expected to draw importers and exporters from around the world in a land that was once hailed as a hub for its trade owing to its strategic placement along the spice route. It is expected to bring together thousands of prospective traders, private investors, and quasi-public from around the world. In olden days, spices were considered a luxury. Sri Lanka positioned at the centre of the Spice Route joined many nations for centuries offering premium spices that were sought after by a global arena. A Mutually Beneficial Business Opportunity between Germany and Sri Lanka at the International Green Week Berlin. A 10 Member team of the association will display their products in different categories including popular Jackfruit , Moringa, Bee’s honey, Herbal products, Coconut, including the theme Ayurveda food culture of Sri Lanka. New product include Ceylon Coffee , Tea and Coffee extract Concentrates , Essential Oils, RBD Coconut Oil, Herbal Teas, Alcoholic beverages , Coconut Nectar , Passion Fruit Deserts. Mr Mrs Rajkumar of DR Exports will demonstrate the Sri Lankan popular “ Hoppers” with a vegan twist under the street food category. Eight University students will showcase their products under the category “Food Trends of the Future” sponsored by the Lions Club of Berlin-Savigny. This will be a unique opportunity for young students to excel in international markets for product lead by the winner of the competition Mr Sudaraka. A business matchmaking forum will be held on 24th and 29th organized by the Lions Club with a press conference on the 22nd to promote Sri Lankan food culture. Four of the members will establish their branch office in Berlin to take full advantage of the trade and investment policies . This will be the first one- stop- shop for Sri Lankan Out growers, farmers , Startups and SME’s to enter the EU market fully supported by HNB. This include a large display space in Berlin with the facility for logistics, Online Sales and many other value added services.
