Exhibitor profile

Amble Gård is an old and venerable farm in Kaupanger in the inner part of the Sognefjord. The farm has been owned by the Heiberg family since 1690. Today the farm is run by the 10th generation Heiberg. The main sources of income are tourism, forestry and organic production of apples and hay. We have 6 holiday houses with 4-12 beds.

Each house has its own distinction. Amble Gård has a good location for outdoor activities both summer and winter. World famous tourist attractions, such as stave churches, glaciers, national parks and the Flåm railway are within short distance.

Today the farm is run by Mette Marie Heiberg and her husband Anders Bjærke. They took over the farm from Mette Maries parents Ingebjørg and Gjert Heiberg in 2014.  Mette Marie is the second woman in the Heiberg family who inherits and runs the farm. The first female owner of Amble Gård was also named Mette Marie Heiberg.

She bought in 1722 two farms, which together with the one she inherited from her father, makes up Amble Gård as we see it today. In February 2013 the 11.generation Heiberg, Maria Bjærke Heiberg was born.

At Amble Gård we produce organic apples and make our own organic apple juice. We grow five different sorts of apples,  all used to produce juice. The apples are picked in September and October and the juice is made on the farm. The juice has been awarded Norway’s best apple juice in 2011.

At Amble Gård we offer 6 charming, traditional wooden houses all with a fantastic view over fjord and mountains. Two of the houses were built in 2011, the others are old, restored houses. It has been important for us to keep old details such as doors, moldings, panels and windows during the restoration.

Our houses are all well-equipped and tastefully furnished and are suitable for couples, small or large families or groups of friends who want to gather for a nice holiday.
The houses lie freely in the nature within walking distance to the farm. On the farm you can meet our animals, pick your own salad and herbs in our greenhouse for free and buy our farm products in our self-service store.

As a guest on our farm you are welcome to use boats on the fjord and fish trout in our mountain lakes for free. We have a cottage by a lake where you can fish trout, which is suitable for daytrips, and can be used by our guests.
